Play Ground
Play Ground | An Intercultural Dialogue through Music is a MUSÉ project that started in 2016, exploring intercultural music education as an effective anchor for world peace.
As participants start making music together in the MUSÉ gathering, a wide range of musical traditions will be in conversation with each other. MUSÉ’s facilitators will help guide the composition process using the methodology developed by Colombian visionary musician, Ernesto Dumas Ocampo (1969 - 2023), known as the MUSÉ approach.
The results of this intercultural music connection have led to an expansive approach to making music, as well as to valuable insights on cross-cultural communication that can be applied to all aspects of life.
Play Ground | An Intercultural Dialogue through Music has been designed in the context of addressing world peace, and in this light, seeks to demonstrate how knowledge acquired through different methods can interact successfully.
At a time when innovative solutions are needed to address major challenges facing us, advancing tools that help us utilize all the knowledge traditions together, is a valuable one.
Academic and scientific knowledge has long been considered the only valid knowledge base. Ideas derived from ancestral and traditional knowledge had been outcast.
MUSÉ proposes that a great wealth of information can be acquired by tapping into the diverse approaches, and that music provides a safe and illuminating realm for this joint venture to play out. A deep understanding of our shared humanity comes about and strong bridges between cultures are laid. The mutual respect and appreciation that naturally comes out of this practice illuminates a path towards world peace to powerful effect.
